Itai is a Los Angeles based producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in ethnomusicology from UCLA (world music) and has studied audio engineering extensively (pro tools and logic certified).
As a multi-instrumentalist in the studio and as a performer, Itai plays guitar, bass, drum programming and keys/synths.
Itai has worked with a long list of music legends and up-and-comers, both in the studio and on stage, including Sly Stone, Herbie Hancock, Gregg Allman, Booker T., Larry Klein, Leon Ware, Richard Rudolph, The Weepies, Thomas Dybdahl, Raul Midon, Rhye, Selah Sue, Salva, Kelis, Banks, Niia Bertino, Dave Sitek, Om’Mas Keith, Robin Hannibal, Kadhja Bonet, Moses Sumney, Seu Jorge, Stuart Zender, Noelle Scaggs, Coco Owino, Bilal, Van Hunt, Alice Russell, Andreya Triana, Mara Hruby, and many more…
Itai also formed the production team and LA band The Decoders in 2011, alongside Todd M. Simon and Adam Berg, which has garnered a lot of attention on KCRW and other media outlets worldwide, including BBC Radio (Gilles Peterson & Jamie Cullum), Okayplayer.com, Wax Poetics and Saint Heron. Adventures From Paradise: A Tribute To Minnie Riperton, will be released very soon, digitally and on vinyl worldwide. The Decoders are also in the running to be nominated for a Grammy for producing the 2014 Concord Records release of Mindi Abair’s Wild Heart, which features guest appearances by Trombone Shorty, Booker T., James Gadson, Joe Perry, Gregg Allman, Keb Mo and many others.
When Itai is not touring the world with Rhye, you’ll find him in the studio working on his own various solo projects.
